This is a brass tsuba made in the Edo period.
Tsuba is a type of ``sword fitting'' that is the exterior of a sword, and is a metal fitting that is sandwiched between the ``sheath'' and the ``blade.''
Takanikubori is a three-dimensional metal engraving technique, and this piece has a three-dimensional and very beautifully decorated dragon figure.
It's a wonderful piece of work.
Condition is good.
