This Dogon statue is an original, handmade artefact that was handed over to me from a local "artisan" in the Djenné region of Mali.
A representation of an ancestor in the Dogon culture, it presents itself with intriguing and meticulous details. Please understand that it has some minor signs of its age. In my opinion, it is truly a hand-crafted masterpiece; please look at all the pictures. It has always been stored inside a glass showcase.
MATERIAL: African bronze. Lost-wax casting process, dark aqua patina.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, originally from the Djenné region, in Mali (collected in situ).
SPECS: 13 cm height, about 6 cm width. Its weight is about 0,38 kg.
