This is printed using the original woodblocks from original publisher Unsodo, Japan. Asano Takeji(1900-1998) Asano Takeji was a Japanese Shin-hanga and Sōsaku-Hanga artist. He was born in 1900 in Kyoto where he studied arts and crafts at the Kyoto City School of painting with Tomikichiro Tokuriki. He first learned Western oil painting and then turned to Japanese-style painting under Tsuchida Bakusen (1887-1936). He became an active member of the sosaku hanga group in Kyoto. Starting in the 1950s, Asano designed a large number of Shin-hanga style prints for the Unsodo, which continue to be printed to this day. Especially the “famous views of Japan” series have been re-evaluated in recent years. Asano Takeji(1900-1998)
Asano Takeji was a Japanese Shin-hanga and Sōsaku-Hanga artist. He was born in 1900 in Kyoto where he studied arts and crafts at the Kyoto City School of painting with Tomikichiro Tokuriki. He first learned Western oil painting and then turned to Japanese-style painting under Tsuchida Bakusen (1887-1936). He became an active member of the sosaku hanga group in Kyoto.
