LEGG Side Table: A Scandinavian-inspired Creation by Maarten Baptist The LEGG side table is a remarkable piece of furniture designed by Maarten Baptist, a renowned Dutch designer based in Eindhoven. With a distinct Scandinavian style, this table aims to showcase the object's construction process. Maarten employs a clear visual language with a playful approach, making the leg both a decorative and functional detail of this table. The tabletop is crafted by a Belgian glass artist who melted the glass in his glass oven to create this unique structure. Maarten collaborated with the glass artist to produce two 60 cm tabletops and two 90 cm tabletops. He will not create more tabletops using this sand fused technique. This table is part of the LEGG design series, where Maarten also created low-seated chairs and benches with walnut or ash wood legs. One of the most intriguing aspects of the LEGG chair is its ingenious use of a single leg for both the front and back supports. By simply rotating the leg, the backrest is affixed to the plywood seat, resulting in a sleek and harmonious design. Additionally, these versatile legs can also double as a coffee table, adding functionality to this already versatile piece of furniture.
