ABOUT THE ARTIST: Born in Mannheim in 1981, Pablo, also known as Hombre, epitomized the stereotypical 80s kid. Video games, comics, and Saturday mornings spent watching cartoons were integral parts of his youth, shaping his personal culture and defining his interests. Simultaneously developing a passion for painting and art, Pablo discovered a new avenue in the 90s: Graffiti. Inspired by idols like Can2, Atom, or Mode2, he dedicated his time and energy to this lifelong passion, honing his spray can skills and embarking on the journey to becoming Hombre. While studying Graphic Design, Pablo was immediately captivated by the digital aspect of design, particularly vector work. Merging the contrasting approaches of painting walls with a spray can and creating designs with a computer, Hombre forged his distinctive style characterized by hard lines and shadings. Today, he is the co-owner of the design studio "SCOUTS" in Germany, boasting an impressive clientele including Disney, Reebok, Eastpak, Pyromaniac Clothing, O2, and more. Despite his success in the design world, he continued to pursue his art, reaching larger audiences. His cans and canvases have traveled as far as Shanghai, New York, Moscow, Berlin, Pamplona, and beyond. Remaining true to the hip-hop scene and his heroes, Hombre maintains a curious mind that allows new influences to enrich his existing inspirations. Pablo has left vibrant traces in the game, and graffiti has played a pivotal role in shaping the character behind the characters. ABOUT THE ARTWORK: This is an unusual choice of color for what could appear as a self-portrait of the artist as a graffer. Mouth covered with a scarf, large clear glasses, a baseball cap put backward – the man in the picture seems focused on the action of lettering a wall, unless he has just gotten lost in his thoughts and memories. Either way, the image impacts the viewers, drawing them into its world. Below the face, a lettered text still drips its white paint. 'Stay true to yaself,' in an old-school font and haloed design, serves as both a statement and a motto – something to live by and remember every day. We find this artwork to be a perfect mix of graffiti art with a powerful impact. Regardless of who we are and whatever our personal preferences, Hombre manages to engage us with this universal call to not abide by the mass and follow our own path. We hope this aesthetic piece will find a place in your interior or that of someone you want to inspire to express their full potential. STREET-ART MOVEMENT: Hombre belongs to the wide and ever growing Street-Art movement that originated in the late 80s graffiti scene and has since been reclaiming public spaces as a platform to emancipate art and make it truly accessible to everyone. Councils and, overall, the public domain have now recognized its power and ability to renew and revive cities, abandoned areas, and spark interest for people to (re)engage with commons. Many festivals, commissions, and dedicated museums now celebrate the diversity of styles coexisting within Street-Art. Some of the most prominent members of this movement include pioneers and precursors Keith Harring, Basquiat, Jacques Villeglé, and the more contemporary Banksy, Obey (Shepard Fairey), Invader, C215, JR, Vhils, Mr. Brainwash, FAKE, Jef Aerosol, Swoon, Speedy Graphito, Cornbread, Futura 2000, Kaws, D*Face, Misstic, Fin DAC, the London Police,1010, Alexi Diaz, Alias, Alice Pasquini, Axel Void, Blek le rat, Cranio, Super A, Danielle SeeWalker, Hoxxoh, Bortusk Kleer, Arsh Mandrome, Hök, Moabit, TedyZet, Utopia, Jago Oner, Santicri, Kev Munday amongst many, many more.
