A nice selection of very old phenolic resin beads, also known as Bakelite beads. One of the first synthetic materials.
Probably produced in Germany from the 1940-60's. The large beads are made to resemble red coral.
Different sizes; from 4 to 9 and 12 mm. On some of the beads chipping has occured, due to its ancient age.
A nice collection of these early synthetic beads!
Collected in the city of Kumasi in the late 1990's.
