I auction one of the oldest - still drinkable Champagne - in the world
Once meant for the Zar in Russia, this 1907 Champagne was found almost 20 years ago on the wreck of the cargo 'Jönköping' in front of the Swedish coast. The bottles were newly corked up and sold in numbered wooden boxes.
On 2013 still was listed as 'the most expensive Champagne of the world':

On the tasting it impresses:
The sugar is harmonically integrated, only a bit of sweetness is felt when the wine touches the tongue, but afterwards the full sweetness covers slowly the whole mouth together with the taste.
The fruit has a substantial and malty character and comes remarkably light and fresh. Later some crispy aromas develop. The whole sensation shows in a flawless taste and a complete harmony. Fast ascending pearls.
Rewired and sealed in pliable wax.
Tasting samples have revealed corks to be fully embossed "Heidsieck Goüt Américain, 1907".
Level excellent for age.
The above bottle was part of the cargo of the Swedish schooner Jönköping which was sunk of the coast of Finland in 1916 by a German U-boat.
In excellent condition, having withstood the pressure and been preserved in the dark, ice-cold water!
