Late 19th Century Hand-Carved Marble Pedestal Urn – Classical Decorative Centerpiece

This elegant marble urn on pedestal is a finely sculpted decorative object inspired by classical architecture. With its balanced proportions and softly veined stone, it brings timeless sophistication to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Carved from solid natural marble, the piece features a fluted bowl with sculptural side handles, resting on a turned pedestal base composed of multiple assembled elements. The natural veining in shades of white, grey, and beige gives each surface depth and individuality, highlighting the craftsmanship involved in shaping and polishing the stone. The underside shows period tool marks and assembly holes consistent with traditional stoneworking methods.

Originating from France and dating to the late 19th century, this urn reflects the enduring neoclassical taste popular in decorative arts of the period. Such pieces were commonly used as ornamental centerpieces, jardinieres, or architectural accents in refined interiors.

Condition is consistent with age and use. There is visible wear, surface patina, and a few small chips and losses, particularly along edges and rims, as shown in the photographs. These signs of age enhance the authenticity and character of the object rather than detract from its visual appeal.

Dimensions: height 35.5 cm (14 in), width 21 cm (8.3 in), depth 17 cm (6.7 in).

A refined and collectible marble object, ideal for decorators, antique enthusiasts, or collectors of classical stonework.
