Beskrivelse fra selgeren

Species: Kranaosphinctes sp.
Age: Jurassic, Oxfordian
Locality: Sakaraha, Madagascar

Measurements: ca. 28 cm i diameter

A beautiful polished ammonite Kranaosphinctes with superb natural white shell. A few restorations are present. In places where the shell is not preserved, the internal mould consists of reddish brown limestone contrasting with the white shell. This is due to natural superficial oxydation.
The stand has been designed and built by an industrial designer to highlight the ammonite. The stand is a unique piece, adapted to this ammonite only, and is included in the sale.

Photos 7 and 8: Ammonites are an important source of income for the inhabitants of small villages in Madagascar, as their main revenue arise from the cultivation of rice and small red peppers. Purchasing one of these ammonites helps the villagers in sustaining their "production" and exportations.
