Introduced during a period of intense technical competition, Seiko’s “Hi-Beat” movements operated at a higher frequency than standard watches of the time. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the caliber 2706 inside this watch represented advanced engineering for everyday wear! Smoother seconds motion, improved accuracy, and better resistance to shocks. It was made for “ordinary people”, but performed greatly.

The Seiko 5 line itself embodied a philosophy: a reliable automatic watch, day-date display, water resistance, recessed crown, and durable construction. This model carries that DNA, but in a distinctly late-60s/early-70s aesthetic: bold cushion case, vivid blue sunburst dial, and applied markers designed to catch light under every angle.
