About the Artwork "Proximité de l'Abîme" (Proximity to the Abyss) is an abstract landscape that serves as a profound metaphor for the journey of life. In the silence of high altitudes, the "abyss" represents those pivotal moments of uncertainty and transition where we confront the vastness of our own existence.
The work is defined by its dense layering, mirroring the complex accumulation of experiences that shape a human life. Atmospheric washes of tempera and energetic charcoal marks build a terrain that is both fragile and resilient. Just as mountain weather obscures and reveals the path ahead, these layers suggest the ebb and flow of memory and foresight. The painting captures the tension of standing at the edge—not as a moment of fear, but as a space of ultimate potential. It is a visual meditation on the courage required to navigate the unknown heights of our own paths.
Note: The painting will be shipped rolled in a tube without wooden frame.
