Beskrivelse fra selgeren

Nå tilgjengelig på auksjon fra Second Vintage

Presenting a classic C-shape Constellation from 1970, this Omega features a beautifully preserved vertically brushed silver dial and an original integrated stainless steel brick-link bracelet. Powered by the chronometer-certified Caliber 1001 movement, this watch offers a compelling configuration of a classic vintage model.

Brand: Omega
Model: Constellation
Reference Number: 166.056-168.042
Serial Number: 29025400
Movement: Automatic Caliber 1001, 20 Jewels
Dial: Vertically brushed silver with applied indices
Case Size: 36 mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Production Year: 1970
Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +16s, performing remarkably well.

Dial and Hands
The dial features a vertically brushed silver finish that is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, showing minimal signs of aging. It is detailed with applied indices featuring black inserts, alongside the applied Omega logo and the signature Constellation star. The original stick hands also contain black inserts but display moderate aging, with visible oxidation and dirt on the metal surfaces, as well as aged or partially missing luminous material.

Case and Crystal
The tonneau, or C-shape, case displays a brushed top with polished flanks. It shows honest wear consistent with its age, including moderate scratches and small dings visible on the edges and flanks, though the original geometry remains generally preserved. The integrated case design flows naturally without a distinct separate bezel. The watch retains its original domed acrylic crystal, complete with the Omega logo etched in the center, which exhibits light surface scratches. A scalloped crown signed with the Omega logo shows normal wear.

Movement
Inside is the automatic Caliber 1001, featuring copper-colored plating on the bridges that appears intact. Engravings read Omega Watch Co Swiss, Twenty 20 Jewels, and Adjusted Five 5 Positions and Temperature, alongside the caliber and serial numbers. The rotor shows significant plating loss and corrosion, and dirt and grime are visible around the case edge. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher records a rate of +16s.

Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet, a stainless steel brick-link design. The endlinks are stamped 628, and the clasp is signed with the Omega logo. The bracelet shows moderate scratches and wear throughout, presenting normal wear for its age, and accommodates a maximum wrist size of 17.5cm.

Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial is beautifully preserved, while the hands show moderate oxidation and lume degradation. The case displays honest wear, with scratches and small dings on the flanks and edges, yet retains its core C-shape profile. The original acrylic crystal has light surface scratches, and the original signed bracelet exhibits moderate wear. The movement rotor shows significant plating loss and corrosion, with dirt visible around the case edge. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.

Dimensions
The case measures 36 mm, excluding the crown.

Remarks
This Constellation features an exceptionally clean vertically brushed silver dial and retains its original integrated brick-link bracelet. The classic C-shape case geometry provides a comfortable and distinct presence on the wrist.

History
Introduced in 1952, the Constellation line quickly became Omega's flagship chronometer, representing the height of the brand's precision manufacturing. The introduction of the C-shape case in the 1960s marked a significant design evolution, moving away from traditional round cases to a more integrated, fluid aesthetic. Equipped with the chronometer-certified Caliber 1001, this 1970 example reflects a period of robust mechanical development and distinctive styling within the Constellation family.
