Kumi Sugai – L’Orage (The Storm) – Original Lithograph
En original litografi av den internasjonalt anerkjente japanske kunstneren Kumi Sugai (1919–1996).
Konceived in 1962, this abstract composition was published in 1970 as part of the print portfolio Modern Prints, issued by Chikuma Shobo in a limited edition of 500 copies.
The work exemplifies Sugai’s distinctive artistic language, combining elements inspired by traditional East Asian calligraphy with the spontaneous, expressive abstraction associated with European Art Informel.
Bold black forms are set against muted tones and rendered with rich, gestural lithographic brushwork, creating a striking sense of movement and dynamism across the sheet.
The work is hand-signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right margin: “汲 SUGAÏ”.
