Kinmō Zui (訓蒙図彙)
Volume 2 of Kinmō Zui, a 20-volume illustrated encyclopedia compiled by Nakamura Tekisai and first published in 1666 (Kanbun 6). This volume consists of 64 pages.
It contains four sections covering people, the human body, clothing, and treasures/valuables.
Each page is divided into upper and lower sections with illustrations. Each illustration is accompanied by a heading written in kanji with its reading provided alongside it.
Nakamura Teкиsai was a Confucian scholar of the Zhu Xi school based in Kyoto. It is said that he created this work in the hope of helping his own children learn language and understand the world around them. The encyclopedia was designed to teach children the names and characteristics of various objects and concepts.
Condition:
There is some insect damage and minor tearing due to age, but overall the book remains well preserved and in excellent condition.
