Work description:
In this diptych, the artist constructs an inner landscape where emotion becomes body, presence, and—ultimately—absence. The female figure, immersed in monochromatic blue tones, emerges from the semi-darkness like a thought on the verge of taking shape. Yet, there is no stable definition: the face doubles, and the hands dissolve into an evanescent gesture. It is the image of an emotion moving in and out of the body, vibrating and shattering within the span of a single instant.
In the second panel, the subject vanishes. The figure's echo is reduced to a shadow, an abstract smudge, as if flesh had yielded to memory, as if the intensity of the emotion had consumed the very form of feeling. Presence turns to spirit, dissolving into the blue of an emotion so profound it becomes invisible. The choice of blue—a cool yet emotionally intense hue—evokes a state of melancholy, introspection, and silence. It is the color of nocturnal thought, of a gentle mourning, of conscious detachment. Yet, the painting is never flat: the material vibrates, forms layers, and pulses. Much like emotion itself—which can never be fully grasped, yet imprints itself upon surfaces through subtle visual traces.
The work does not depict a face or a body, but rather the shifting state of the soul. The figure is less a subject than a projection: that which remains of us when we surrender to feeling, or when feeling abandons us.
