A fine Sumatran ‘Pedang’ which is the literal translation for ‘sword’. Often found all over Sumatra with their typical carved hilts depicting floral motifs. The Sumatran swords are known for their fine detail in silver decoration, as is seen here on our example. One of the finer examples with typical shape, silver guard and decorated with low grade silver. The pommel is in relief with beautiful silver part with floral motifs and foliage. A true beautiful example of a Sumatran pedang with no restorations / repairs and fully original which is slightly worn but an interesting blade. The blade has very slight traces of wear and surface rust and the hilt and shaft decorations are of high quality with finely decorated fittings.
