Extremely rare original U.S. 1975 Columbia first pressing of Wish You Were Here, factory-sealed in the legendary opaque blue “outer bag” shrink with the round mechanical handshake sticker affixed directly to the outer wrap. This variant represents one of the earliest Columbia issues (Pitman/Terre Haute/Santa Maria plants), preceding the transparent shrink and later barcoded reissues.
Inside the blue wrap lies the full original presentation: the flaming handshake gatefold sleeve, black inner sleeve with die-cut window, and postcard of the diver (“Welcome to the Machine” artwork). The record itself would feature TML (The Mastering Lab) matrix etchings on both sides — the definitive audiophile mastering favored by collectors for its warm analog depth and soundstage clarity.
The blue-tinted bag was a short-lived Columbia variation produced in limited quantities before reverting to the standard black film; these copies are highly sought after due to their rarity, color tone, and unmistakable collector appeal.
