ArtBrut by Ann - Mickey Black & White - The Silent Label

My sculpture, "Mickey Black & White - The Silent Label," is an artistic manifesto that places the childhood icon, Mickey Mouse, at the center of digital and media chaos. Just as the masters of Pop Art deconstructed advertising and mass culture, I use a monochromatic, fragmented collage of words, labels, and fragments of headlines (e.g., Vogue, Louis Vuitton) to create a visual informational noise. In this version, Mickey becomes the embodiment of narrative overload—a silent figure surrounded by the constant din of brands and news.

The central, gleaming black of Mickey Mouse's face and torso serves as a platform for contemplation—a mirrored surface that reflects the surroundings, forcing the viewer to confront the chaos that covers the rest of his body. The use of logos here is not a duplication, but a critical reinterpretation. By fragmenting them and reducing them to black-and-white abstraction, logos cease to be promotional symbols and become structural patterns symbolizing the pervasive power of global "Label Culture."

In an age of mechanization and replication, I place fundamental emphasis on authentic, hand-crafted craftsmanship. What you see on the sculpture's surface is not a print. Each piece of collage was individually cut and meticulously applied to a resin mold. This precise and time-consuming process ensures that each piece in this edition is absolutely unique. The sculpture was then coated with multiple layers of epoxy resin to provide extraordinary optical depth and a distinctive, glazed sheen.
