Information from Internet :

The Finnish "Cuckoo" medal is the popular name for medal of a participant in the Winter War of 1939–1940 (Finnish Talvisodan muistomitali 1939–1940). It was established on August 2, 1940 to reward participants in the war with the USSR, as well as those who provided significant assistance in defending Finland's independence.
Below is an overview of the medal, its bars (clasps) and their meanings.
The "Cuckoo" Medal (Talvisodan muistomitali)
Name: "Cuckoo" (named after the similarity of the image on the reverse with a cuckoo on a branch, although officially it is an allegorical image of victory, often interpreted as a hand in armor holding a sword).
Design: The obverse depicts the coat of arms of Finland (lion), the reverse depicts an armored hand holding a sword and the date "1939–1940".
Material: Mainly made of iron (often blackened) or bronze.
Ribbon: Black with two blue stripes (the colors of the Finnish flag and mourning).
Swords (clasp)
For direct participants in hostilities, crossed swords were attached to the medal ribbon.
Swords of the Karelian coat of arms: Symbolize participation in battles.
Ribbons (clasps) to the medal
The bars were attached to the ribbon above the medal and indicated the place of service or area of battle. There are about 11-15 main official bars. Some of them are:
KARJALAN KANNAS (Karelian Isthmus)
SUMMA (Summa – area of active fighting)
TAIPALE (Taipale — north of the Karelian Isthmus)
LAATOKAN KARJALA (Ladoga Karelia)
 KAINUU
KOIVISTO (Koivisto, now Primorsk)
ILMAPUOLUSTUS (Air Defense)
KOTIJOUKOT (Home Guard / Rear Guard)
KENTTÄARMEIJA (Field Army)
Types and varieties
For Finnish soldiers: Mostly iron, with slats and swords.
