泥野 (Deyano, Japanese for muddy field) is a large, meditative painting that lingers in the quiet zone between earth and atmosphere. A deep, dense band of brown runs horizontally through the centre of the canvas, held between lighter, dustier ochres above and below. The image suggests a saturated field after rain, a low horizon dissolving into humid air, or simply the weight and warmth of soil seen up close.

The work is built from many thin, diluted layers of burnt umber and yellow ochre, allowing the pigments to sink into the weave of the canvas rather than form a heavy skin. Soft transitions, faint streaks and small irregularities are intentionally left visible, like traces of water and sediment settling over time.
