Born in the Ukraine in 1979, artist Ruslan Lobanov is one of the most unique photographers in the contemporary post-Soviet art space. Early on, he specialised in portraiture and female nudes in black and white.

He draws his inspiration from cinema and fashion, producing erotic shots in which the bodies of sensual women are brazenly flaunted under his sharp eye. The models thus represent a certain kind of feminine freedom by disrupting established codes. His images have earned the photographer remarkable collaborations, notably with the magazines Playboy and L’Officiel and the cosmetics group L’Oréal. Ruslan Lobanov does not just take photographs for advertising campaigns and also produces limited editions of his personal work in the form of books and calendars.
