Porsche - 356 Pre A Cabriolet - 1953

Porsche 356 Pre A convertible from 1953. Just 370 models of the Porsche 356 Pre A Convertible were made in 1953, so this is a very rare car. The car's current livery is slate grey with a red interior and beige convertible top. The original sun visors are also present. The remarkable thing about this 356 is that it was delivered directly to Reutter by Porsche, where it spent a very long time as a test car trying out a new colour. This 356 was meant to test the "Signalrot" colour. Ultimately, the original colour of the car is not known. As the car has spent such a long time at Reutter, very little information about the car is known, and no Kardex is available. The chassis number and engine number are accurate of a Pre A. The engine number corresponds to a Porsche 528 engine (1500S), matching the period of the chassis number (1953). We therefore suspect that it still has the original engine, as there are papers from 1961 and 1964 showing the engine number that is now in the car. Porsche eventually gifted the car to a Mexican ambassador, who was said to be a racer. The car's current condition is good. The paint is still neat, with minimal signs of wear. The slate grey paint still has a nice shine to it and it looks very good matched with the red upholstery. The interior is still in neat condition with minimal signs of wear. From a technical standpoint, the 356 is in fine shape and it drives properly. The bottom is in good condition.
