Spencer & Perkins - a Georgian watch shaped pocket pedometer, the white enamel dial with outer register divided in 1/100ths, having two subsidiary dials showing tenths of a mile and 1-12 miles respectively, in gilt metal case lacking glass, on steel suspender. One method of measuring distance is to count the number of paces it takes to walk or run from one place to another. This pedometer was hooked over a belt or strap and the swings in walking were counted by a weighted mechanism inside the watch case.
