The core content of the book consists of ancient panegyric speeches. Panegyrics were a prominent form of rhetoric in the classical world, typically delivered in public to celebrate and praise a person, often an emperor or ruler. These speeches aimed to highlight the virtues, achievements, and qualities of the individual being honored. They were important for conveying political and social messages and reinforcing the legitimacy of rulers.
