Notes on Central America; particularly the States of Honduras and San Salvador: their geography, topography, climate, population, resources, productions, etc.etc." Very large map folded out of text as frontis...detached, with some repairs,light wear around margins and edges, 4 folded Maps in very good condition, 11 tables cardboard engravings with tissue guards. Title page with ancient repair. Others pages in very good clean condition. Externally original cloth rebacked with light wear around edges and corners,some shelfwear. See photos as part of description. Squier was appointed special chargè d' affaires in all Central American states in 1849 and negotiated treaties with Nicaragua, Honduras and San Salvador. In 1853 he made a second visit to Central America to examine a line for a planned interoceanic railway and to further study the archeology of the country. Only UK Copy selling worlwide! Very rare. Uncommon.
