Alas, Château Chasse Spleen was founded in 1863. The thirty-year-old vines grow on soils rich in clay and pebbles. In terms of the grape varieties used, Cabernet Sauvignon is included at 73%, with 20% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. This wine is harmonious, very tannic and full-bodied, though still elegant. It has a deep, ruby colour and ripe aromas of prune. In its best years, Chasse Spleen rivals the best of the Medoc’s crus classés. 1974 Bois-Gentil Saint-Estèphe Mähler-Besse (5) Saint Estephe: Located on the left bank of Bordeaux, the AOC Saint-Estèphe is connected to the Medoc. The vineyard extends over 1,230 hectares of gravelly alluvium, which is based on limestone or oyster marl. It produces 59,000 hl/year of red wines each from the red grape varieties traditionally used in Bordeaux. Despite these contrasts, Saint-Estèphe produces typical wines every year. They are characterized by their robust and solid sides. The taste is harmonious, powerful and fine, to give an aftertaste full of distinction and freshness. As they age, the mouth of the Saint-Estèphe becomes round.depth.
