Junker explored Africa from 1875 to 1886 including mapping of the Congo River and exploring the Nile sources. He also established the identity of the Welle and Ubangi. Junker received the gold medal of the Royal Geographical Society in 1887.
The third of three works of German explorer's trilogy of travels through Africa translated into English from the original German by A.H. Keane. Wilhelm Junker (1840-1892) traveled through Africa from 1875 to 1886 studying the peoples and collecting specimens of plants and animals. The third volume of "Travels" outlines his investigation of the Nile/ Congo watersheds and travels through Uganda and Tabora to Zanzibar. He also established the identity of the Welle and Ubangi people.
