A genuine and scarce Queen Elizabeth 1 (1533-1603) Privy wax seal that was once attached to a document, the vellum tags bearing indistinct manuscript signature, 92 mm diameter.
A privy seal is the personal seal of a reigning monarch, used to authenticate official documents of a personal nature, in contrast to a great seal, which is used for documents of greater importance.
In this seal on reverse, you'll see The red dragon of Wales and the hound of both Brittany (France) and Richmond, both of which are dipicted with pizzels.
The seal is intact with edges chipped and impressions blunted.
