A unique Japanese Kokeshi, acquired from a private collector situated in a remote town named Yoshinojingu in Wakayama province, Japan.
This black kokeshi is not made of wood, but of a rare type of black marble called Nachi-guro (inkstone).
This type of stone is only found in the Wakayama prefecture, Nachikatsuura town to be precise.
It has been made by a very talented local artist, who has signed the kokeshi on the left side.
Also the authenticity sticker can be found at the back side.

This piece of Japanese craftsmanship is estimated to be between 40 and 70 years old.
It is completely free of damages and looks as new.
