The 12th release of Port Ellen, distilled in 1979 and aged for 32 years before being bottled in 2012.
Launched by Diageo in 2001, the range took over from the Rare Malts series. Every year, a limited edition Port Ellen was released, primarily from 1978 and 1979.
The range was discontinued in 2017, probably to make way for the new distillery, opened in March under the guidance of Georgie Crawford, the former manager of Lagavulin. A limited edition of 2,964 bottles.
