Exile on Main St. is a studio album by the British band The Rolling Stones, released in 1972. Double album, released on May 12th in England[6] and on May 22nd in the USA, Exile on Main Street had the provisional title Tropical Disease ("tropical disease") which was then replaced with the known one. Upon its release Exile on Main St. was greeted by mixed reviews, but already in the seventies, the album underwent a strong re-evaluation by music critics, to the point of being considered by some the Rolling Stones' masterpiece.
