L. Tricard - Pendant-medal St. Anne- Tree of Jesse. Absolutely gorgeous 22 k yellow gold religious pendant-medal representing Saint Anne and the Virgin Mary, often called the "Root of Jesse" medal. This pendant is a medal of Saint Anne that illustrates the Christian iconographic theme of the Tree of Jesse. It’s an ORIGINAL piece by the famous French artist, sculptor and engraver medalist Louis-Victor TRICARD, creator the quality, unique and beautiful medals from the Art Nouveau period (around 1900-1930). Magnificent and antique medal depicts Saint Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary, sitting, with the young Mary kneeling at her feet. A stylised tree is behind them. The inscription around the edge is in Latin: "De radice Jesse" which means "From Jessé's root". The Tree of Jesse: This artistic motif illustrates the genealogy of Jesus Christ, descendant of Jesse (the father of King David), as prophesied in the Book of Isaiah (11:1): "A twig will come out of the trunk of Jesse, a scion will grow from its roots". Symbolism: In this representation, Mary is the "stem" or "flower" that blooms from this family tree, and Jesus is the fruit. The theme highlights Mary's royal ancestry and immaculate purity.
