Item Description: This is a magnificent Kutani ware ceramic statue of a temple lion (Shishi), skillfully crafted by the renowned Hachiman Kiln, Tōrindō. The Shishi, a traditional protective figure in Japanese culture, is depicted in a dynamic stance, resting one paw on an elaborately decorated ball. What makes this piece exceptionally rare is the intricate design of Japanese red-crowned cranes (Tancho) adorning the ball, symbolizing longevity and good fortune.
