Vintage Japanese jewelry box / cigarette box by Yamatogumi Metalwares, mid-20th century (circa 1940s–1960s). A beautifully detailed footed metal box in silver-plated antimony alloy (antimony metalware), manufactured by the renowned Japanese firm Yamatogumi (founded in 1910 in Tokyo). The lid is decorated in repoussé technique with a dramatic Asian temple scene: a grand pagoda-style temple with curved roofs, hanging lanterns, stairs, ornate pillars, and surrounding trees and foliage – a classic motif inspired by traditional Japanese shrines or palaces. The box stands on four small ball feet and features a beaded border around the lid for added elegance. The interior is plain metal with natural patina and minor signs of age. The underside bears the distinctive maker’s mark: "Y" in a sail (Y in a sailboat/yacht) along with "MADE IN JAPAN" – Yamatogumi’s signature hallmark.
