Roman glass bottle with flaring neck – Eastern Mediterranean, 2nd–3rd century AD – Ex Paul Sadargue collection (1924–1942) Description Elegant Roman glass bottle with a rounded globular body and a wide flaring neck. Blown in a pale green glass, with a beautiful natural weathering layer and areas of mineral deposits typical of long burial in the Levant. This type of vessel was used to contain oils or liquids and represents one of the more refined blown-glass shapes of the Eastern Roman provinces in the 2nd–3rd century AD. A well-proportioned example of uncommon size. Material Blown glass, pale green, natural iridescence. Period / Culture Roman Empire – Eastern Mediterranean 2nd–3rd century AD Dimensions Height: 126 mm Condition Very good condition. Complete and unrestored. Surface weathering, iridescence and mineral deposits consistent with age. Description

Elegant Roman glass bottle with a rounded globular body and a wide flaring neck.
Blown in a pale green glass, with a beautiful natural weathering layer and areas of mineral deposits typical of long burial in the Levant.

This type of vessel was used to contain oils or liquids and represents one of the more refined blown-glass shapes of the Eastern Roman provinces in the 2nd–3rd century AD.

A well-proportioned example of uncommon size.
