These bells are used in Buddhist rituals to punctuate prayers and moments of meditation with a distinct, resonant chime. Unlike Himalayan singing bowls, which are rubbed in a circular motion, orin bells are gently struck to produce a single, fading tone that creates a serene atmosphere. Each bell rests on a decorative cushion with vibrant woven patterns, supported by lacquered or wooden stands. The set includes strikers of various designs to complement the bells. There are signs of age-related wear, including minor scratches, patina, and signs of use. Notably, one of the cushions show stains, fading, and some visible burn marks—likely from incense or candles used during rituals.
