Biography Nakajima Raisho (1796-1871) Painter of the late Edo and Meiji periods. Born in Kansei 8. Born in Omi (Shiga Prefecture). Studied under Watanabe Nangaku. Later became a disciple of Maruyama Ouzui. He was a major painter of the Maruyama School at the end of the Edo period, and did well in landscape, figure, and flower-and-bird paintings. Together with Seiki Yokoyama, Renzan Kishi, and Bunrin Shiokawa, he was called one of the four great painters of the Heian(Kyoto). Among his students were Kouno Bairei and others. He died in 1871 at the age of 76. He was 76 years old. He was also known by other names such as Shikei. The pseudonym are Toko, Tsushindo, and Shunbunsai.

Painter of the late Edo and Meiji periods.
