Elegant pair of Japanese red lacquer covered serving bowls with hand‑painted landscape decoration and black lacquer interiors. The larger bowl measures approx. 26 cm in diameter and 12 cm in height. The smaller one measures approx. 20 cm in diameter and 9 cm in height and bears a small red painted signature/mark on the inside of the lid and on the base. Both pieces are made of wood covered with red lacquer and decorated in gold, black and brown tones with a stylised landscape motif. They were originally intended as tableware/serving dishes but today they also work very well as decorative objects. Condition: – Overall good vintage condition with signs of age and use. – Larger bowl: small chip to the lacquer under the rim of the lid (not visible when the lid is in place), light surface scratches and wear. – Smaller bowl: light scratches and wear to the lacquer consistent with age.
