An rareli-seen example of an elongated gemmy apatite with excellent luster, great transparency, deep green color, and an excellently formed termination, atop which this specimen’s zoned interior can be appreciated. This piece, which almost looks like an elbaite to the untrained eye, comes from the classic Portuguese deposit of Panasqueira, a mine developed to exploit a series of tabular veins of Sn–W mineralization that have produced some of the finest sulfide and fluorapatite specimens in the world and definitely from Europe.
