Unlike traditional Kokeshi, which follow strict regional forms and inherited techniques from the Tohoku region, creative Kokeshi allow artists full freedom in design and expression, resulting in charming and diverse figures. Among the collection are four signed pieces. The largest doll is by Gōno Seifū, a noted figure in the world of creative Kokeshi. His work is distinguished by its blend of traditional elements with modern artistry, and this doll features a name label on the base. Another notable piece is titled "Hōshun 萌春" (Spring Bud) by Ueda Izumi, whose name 和泉and seal appear on the side. This doll received honourable mention at the All Japan Kokeshi Contest, showcasing its recognised artistic merit. The collection displays a variety of poses, colours, and expressions, ranging from elegantly painted kimono patterns to playful and stylised forms. Some blemishes and signs of age are present.
