Megalodon (Otodus megalodon) was the largest shark to ever live, reaching lengths of up to 18–20 meters. It dominated the oceans during the Miocene–Pliocene era, around 3–20 million years ago, feeding on large marine mammals. Today, Megalodon teeth are among the most sought-after marine fossils, prized for their size, power, and direct connection to one of Earth’s greatest apex predators.
