This is what is called in French a "parure de linge de lit" in English " a set of bed linen with a matching pair of pillow cases." Not many of these sets" are any longer in existence as the pillow cases had to stand up to enormous wear and tear due to hair rubbing continuously onto the fabric during sleeping. I am not 100% sure ,but it appears that the initials were hand embroidered as the initials, particularly on the pillow cases, are different. The top of the bed linen has a generous garland of laurel leaves which gives the bed linen a rather rich finish. The paire of pillow cases measure 66cm x 66cm and have in each top corner a small laurel leaf and again the initials B.J.
