The mountain's beautiful gradations of orange and brown, the curving lines of smoke rising from the peak, and the accents of a village at the base and a ship sailing across the sea are the highlights. The powerful black contours and impactful composition are captivating. The matte texture is unique to hand-cut woodblock prints. Conditions: Very good conditions, slight defects in the margin. Representative motifs include Mount Fuji, Sakurajima, Karuizawa, and Sado, all characterized by simple yet striking designs. Miyata continued to create energetically from the post-war period through his later years, and is an artist who enjoys enduring popularity among collectors. 1924: Born in Miima Village, Nagano Prefecture. 1947: Graduated from Nagano Normal School (now the Faculty of Education, Shinshu University). Became a teacher, but retired due to illness. 1950–1960: Began creative activities. 1970–1984: Traveled throughout Japan and produced 425 woodblock prints depicting major landscapes. 1984: Awarded the Blue Ribbon Medal (Kunju Hosho). Continued creative work and held numerous solo exhibitions. 2013: Passed away (aged 89). A Japanese printmaker who has been awarded a national medal.
