The design of this ring is inspired by ancient Egyptian examples. It is centered by a carved steatite Scarab, which displays hieroglyphs at the back. Scarabs were holy animals in Ancient Egypt. The beetle was one of their most popular amulets because the insect was a symbol of the sun god Ra. The setting in which the scarab is placed is able to swivel around, so you can either look at the scarab or turn it to use the back as a seal. Size: wears as a US 7, UK O, circumference 54 mm. The scarab's setting measures 18 x 14 mm and stands 7 mm from the finger when worn. Weight: 4.90 grams. Material: Acid tested as 14k gold. Condition: In great antique condition, with only minor wear, consistent with its age.
