Here is a nice and representative rhodochrosite specimen from Moanda mine, Gabon, featuring a geode lined with dark orange-red scalenohedrons.
The matrix is solid manganese oxides-rich rock, that was actually used as manganese ore in Moanda in the 1980's when this specimen was found.
