Large specimen of green-yellow autunite from Margnac, France. It was discovered in the 1970s. Under the generic name 'Margnac Mine(s),' eleven uranium mining operations existed, including the Margnac I and II deposits, Pény, La Vauzelle, etc. Some of these operations were underground mines, others were open-pit mines. They were active in the second half of the 20th century. Peak activity was around 1970.
Slightly radioactive, requires an accordingly proper handling.
