茶叶盒/箱 - 瓷 - Yongzheng(1723–1735)
Unusual Chinese blue and white porcelain tea caddy, made in Jingdezhen during the Yongzheng period (1723–1735). The vessel is decorated with two cartouches, each featuring a parrot perched on a branch. The cartouches are set within a stylised panel, surrounded by flowering branches and insects. The decoration is based on a design by Cornelis Pronk (1691–1759), a draughtsman and designer who created decorative drawings for Chinese export porcelain for the Dutch East India Company (VOC). The silver mounting is a late 19th/early 20th-century Dutch addition, with the top featuring a perched bird corresponding to those depicted in the cartouches.
Condition: very good, only a backing flaw in the glaze (see the photographs).
Origin: private Dutch collection
Dimensions: 19 cm (height) x 5,3 (ø foot) cm
