Antique Imperial Russian 84 Zolotniki silver tea glass holder with Russian text:
“Bon appetit”
It has an inscription at base both in Russian and English:
“На память от рабочих Самсоновской мануфактуры своему мастеру Ивану Васильевичу Водсвортъ”
“In memory from the workers of the Samsonov Manufactory to their master Ivan Vasilyevich Wattsworth”
His monogram is in a a laurel wreath with a bow on the piece: I W
On the handle a date inscription: 1 Oct 1889 - St Petersburg
The Samsonov Manufactory was the oldest of the weaving mills in St Petersburg, founded in 1836.
In 1861, the manufactory was sold to the Anglo-German company Meyer & Pren, which converted the enterprise into a cotton spinning and weaving factory.
Mr Wattsworth was probably a former director.
After the Russian revolution the company was renamed in 1919 and existed until 1994.
An very interesting historical piece.

Workmaster: И.С (cyrillic) for Ivan Saltikov Yegorov - active in Moscow 1884 - 1897
Provenance: purchased at a British auction in 2015
