Nicoya-Chorotega 陶瓷 女性形象,双手叉腰。 - 5 in (没有保留价)

Nicoya-Chorotega, 800 - 1,350,A.D. Costa Rica. Anthropomorphic vase-figure: standing figure, hands on hips, legs spread out to form a quadripod base, large pierced side handles and ears; head crowned with a high cylindrical headband highlighted with geometric registers, painted beige, red and brown decoration; circular opening on reverse. Beige engobe terracotta, brown-red polychrome painted decoration. (intact: small chips and wear to paint, traces of red wax on top). The Chorotega were one of the major cultures that inhabited and shaped the Guanacaste archaeological region of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. The pottery produced in Guaitil and San Vicente in the traditional pre-Columbian style is explicitly designated as "Chorotega pottery," thus establishing a link between the geographical area and the specific indigenous group. The figurine's stylistic features—the hollow form, the red and beige coloring, and the specific decorations—are consistent with artifacts typically attributed to the Nicoya polychrome tradition and thus to the Chorotega, which flourished from approximately 800 to 1350 CE Provence : Mr, and Mrs. Robert Elder Collection, USA collected in the 1970s, , Stendahl Gallery USA acquired from above 1994.
