He graduated from the painting department of Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts in 1909, and in 1912 graduated from Kyoto Municipal Painting College as a member of the second class, progressing to and graduating from the research department. He studied under Yamamoto Shunkyo. While still a student, he was selected for the first time for "The Flower Shop's Garden" at the 3rd Bunten exhibition in 1909, receiving a commendation, and was selected again the following year. He was selected for the Bunten and Teiten exhibitions in 1918 and 1920, and continued to be selected for the Teiten exhibitions thereafter, and was selected for the 1st Prince Shotoku Art Exhibition in 1926, and exhibited his work without being judged at two exhibitions in 1930.
